In year 2020, Singapore's National School Games Wushu Championship will adapt to the International Wushu Rules and Regulations of year 2005. However, due to the pandemic, all competitions were cancelled. Nevertheless, it is important to understand the rules to prepare the children for future competitions.

Following the changes made in the rules since 2005, Sports the Difference has extracted the main rules that Singapore Schools will be using and placed it on this platform. This allows anybody who is interested in the new rules and regulations have a better understanding of the judging processes during competitions, and to recognise the differences between the new and old rules. This system only applies for the individual events.

According to the new rule, there will be a total of 6 individual judges (excluding the head judge and time keeper). Out of the 6 judges, 3 judges will represent 'Judge Panel A' and the other 3 judges will represent 'Judge Panel B'. Panel A judges will be judging based on the Quality of Movements and panel B judges will be judging based on the Overall Performance. The scoring system will be out of 10 marks, in which 5 marks depend on their Quality of Movements and the other 5 marks is based on their Overall Performance.

In this post, we will be talking about the quality of movements. First, we will look into the stances in the new rules and their codes for deduction. This is different from the old rules, where the judges will focus on all stances of the athletes. However, the new rules state that the judges will pay attention to various essential stances and deduct points accordingly for every error made. For each set of errors made in any of the listed movements, the judges will deduct 0.1 marks from the total of 5 marks. If the movements executed by the participants are not stated in the list, points will not be deducted, but this will affect the points under the Overall Performance segment.

We will now look into the mark deduction lists for Changquan and weapons.
